Question 1

When does GTA 6 come out?

Accepted Answer

Grand Theft Auto VI releases on Thursday, November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar Games confirmed the date after moving the game from its original fall 2025 window and then from May 26, 2026. Digital pre-loading starts November 12. No PC version has been announced yet.

Question 2

Will GTA 6 be on PC?

Accepted Answer

GTA VI launches November 19, 2026 exclusively on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar has not announced a PC version. Based on GTA V (17 months after console) and Red Dead Redemption 2 (13 months after), a PC release in late 2027 or 2028 is widely expected but not confirmed.

Question 3

How much does GTA 6 cost?

Accepted Answer

GTA VI costs $79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, based on official store listings since pre-orders opened June 25, 2026. Copies bought before November 20 include the Vintage Vice City Pack. Physical copies contain a download code, not a disc.

Question 4

How big is the GTA 6 map?

Accepted Answer

GTA VI is set in the State of Leonida, Rockstar’s fictional Florida, centered on Vice City — a modern Miami analogue. Rockstar has not published official map dimensions, but trailer analysis and community mapping projects consistently estimate the playable area at roughly twice the size of GTA V’s Los Santos and Blaine County.

Question 5

Who are the GTA 6 main characters?

Accepted Answer

GTA VI features two playable protagonists: Lucia Caminos, the first playable female lead in a mainline GTA since the 2D era, and Jason Duval. Their Bonnie-and-Clyde partnership drives the story. Confirmed supporting characters include Cal Hampton, Boobie Ike, Dre’Quan Priest, Real Dimez, Raul Bautista, and Brian Heder.

Question 6

Will GTA 6 have an online mode?

Accepted Answer

Not at launch, as far as Rockstar has said. Rockstar describes GTA VI as a single-player experience, and Take-Two has discussed the November 19, 2026 release only in single-player terms. A new online mode is still widely expected later — GTA Online arrived two weeks after GTA V — but nothing has been announced.

Question 7

Can I pre-load GTA 6, and how much storage do I need?

Accepted Answer

Digital pre-loading for GTA VI begins November 12, 2026, one week before the November 19 launch. Rockstar has not announced an official file size. Based on comparable Rockstar releases, plan for roughly 150–200GB for the base game plus a day-one patch — clearing 250GB of free space is the safe target.

Question 8

Will GTA 6 come to PS4 or Xbox One?

Accepted Answer

No. GTA VI launches November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only. Rockstar has never listed PS4 or Xbox One on any official announcement, store page, or trailer, and has made no statement suggesting a last-generation version is planned.

Question 9

Can I transfer my GTA Online character to GTA 6?

Accepted Answer

Rockstar has not confirmed any transfer of GTA Online characters, money, vehicles, or properties into GTA VI. No GTA VI online mode has been announced at all, so there is nothing to transfer into yet. Rockstar has never carried player progress between games, so expect a fresh start.

Question 10

Will GTA 6 be on Game Pass or PS Plus?

Accepted Answer

Not at launch. GTA VI must be bought outright on November 19, 2026. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has repeatedly said putting premium new releases into day-one subscriptions does not make economic sense, and Take-Two has never launched a mainline GTA or Red Dead title into Game Pass or PS Plus.

Question 11

Why was GTA 6 delayed?

Accepted Answer

GTA VI has been delayed twice. Trailer 1 announced a 2025 release in December 2023; Rockstar moved it to May 26, 2026, then again to November 19, 2026. Rockstar gave no detailed reason either time, citing only the extra time needed to finish the game to its standard.

Question 12

Should I buy the Standard or Ultimate Edition?

Accepted Answer

Standard Edition costs $79.99 and includes the full base game. Ultimate Edition costs $99.99 and adds the ’95 Grotti Cheetah, the Shore Court garage, three exclusive stores, a boat, and the Hawk & Little Morgan revolvers. Both include the Vintage Vice City Pack if bought before November 20, 2026.

Question 13

What time does GTA 6 unlock?

Accepted Answer

Rockstar has not issued a formal unlock announcement, but PlayStation and Xbox store listings show GTA VI unlocking at midnight local time, country by country, as November 18 becomes November 19. For the United States that means midnight Eastern — 11pm Central, 10pm Mountain, and 9pm Pacific on November 18.

Question 14

Will GTA Online shut down when GTA 6 launches?

Accepted Answer

No. Rockstar has never announced a shutdown, and Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick told investors in August 2026 that the company expects to continue supporting GTA Online going forward. GTA V’s online service has already outlived two console generations, and a long overlap with GTA VI is the likeliest outcome.

Question 15

Will GTA 6 run at 60fps?

Accepted Answer

Rockstar has not announced frame rate targets. The Extended Look gameplay ran at roughly 2K and 30fps on a base PS5, and reporting indicates the current build targets 30fps across all consoles including PS5 Pro. No 60fps performance mode has been confirmed for launch on any platform.

Question 16

Which console should I buy for GTA 6?

Accepted Answer

Any PlayStation 5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X, or Xbox Series S will run GTA VI — there is no wrong choice among current-generation hardware. No console-exclusive content or confirmed performance advantage exists on any platform, so buy on price, the storage you need, and where your friends already play.

Question 17

How does switching between Jason and Lucia work?

Accepted Answer

You cannot switch between Jason and Lucia freely at all times. Rockstar has confirmed switching is story-dependent: some missions lock you to one character, some force a switch at set moments, and others let you swap at will. The Extended Look showed seamless mid-action switching during combat and driving.

Question 18

What age rating is GTA 6?

Accepted Answer

GTA VI is rated Mature 17+ by the ESRB in North America and PEGI 18 in Europe. Rockstar replaced the long-standing Rating Pending placeholder with the final certificate on October 1, 2026. Content descriptors include intense violence, blood and gore, strong sexual content, nudity, strong language, and drug use.
