Rockstar has made no statement about carrying GTA Online progress into GTA VI — not characters, not money, not vehicles, properties, or rank. Claims circulating that a transfer is confirmed, or confirmed impossible, are not sourced to Rockstar.
There is a more basic obstacle. GTA VI is launching as a single-player game, and Rockstar has not announced an online mode for it. Until that mode exists and its structure is described, there is no destination for a transfer.
Rockstar has moved players between platforms inside a single title, but it has never carried progression from one game into its sequel. Economy design is the likely reason: importing a decade of accumulated GTA Online wealth would break a new game’s progression on day one.
Nothing you do in GTA Online now is likely to benefit you in GTA VI, so play it for its own sake rather than as preparation. Equally, there is no reason to spend down a balance — Rockstar has given no indication that current GTA Online is closing.
If Rockstar announces a GTA VI online mode and says anything about carry-over, we will update this page with the exact wording and the source.
