Speedrun Notes

Category definitions, platform notes, and general rules for GTA VI speedruns. Official leaderboards and verified rules will be established by the community after launch.

Rules, routes, and world records will be established after GTA VI launches on November 19, 2026. This page will be updated as the community defines official categories.

Categories

Complete the main story as fast as possible.

  • Timer starts on new game confirmation
  • Timer ends on final story cutscene (exact trigger TBD)
  • Glitches and skips allowed unless banned by category rules
  • Load times typically excluded on console; in-game time used where possible
100%WR: Pending Launch

  • Exact 100% requirements confirmed after launch
  • Typically includes all story missions, side quests, collectibles, and challenges
  • Estimated 6–12 hours depending on route optimization
New GameWR: Pending Launch

Standard fresh-save run with no pre-existing progress or unlocks.

  • Most common base category — no prior save carryover
  • New Game+ (if available in GTA VI) would be a separate category
Platforms
PlayStation 5Separate leaderboard from Xbox and PC. Load times vary.
Xbox Series X/SSeparate leaderboard. Load times comparable to PS5.
PCSeparate leaderboard. Generally fastest due to SSD load times and potential skips.
General Rules
  • Emulators are not permitted on console leaderboards
  • Video evidence required for all submissions
  • Mods and trainers are not permitted in standard categories
  • Timing method (RTA vs IGT) to be decided by the community
  • Glitchless sub-category may be added if demand exists
