The Extended Look in August 2026 was captured on a base PlayStation 5 and ran at approximately 2K resolution at 30fps. That is the best direct evidence available, because it is Rockstar’s own capture of a near-final build rather than an estimate.
Rockstar has published no performance specification for any console, and has not described graphics modes of the kind many current-generation games offer.
The constraint is processing load rather than graphical detail. Leonida runs a rebuilt weather system, dense NPC crowds with individual routines, more than 170 animal species, and roughly twice the map area of GTA V — all simulated at once.
That kind of simulation is bound by the console’s processor, which is the hardest part to overcome. Doubling the frame rate usually means cutting back the simulation, and Rockstar has shown no sign of wanting that trade.
Several reports claim a 60fps mode is coming, either on PS5 Pro or in a post-launch patch. None is sourced to Rockstar, and they contradict each other on basic details. We are not treating any of them as fact.
A later performance patch is plausible — Rockstar has added modes to past titles after release — but plan your purchase around 30fps and treat anything better as a bonus. We will update this page when Rockstar publishes real numbers.
